OUR PERSONNEL
Videomega is able to draw on a team of well-trained professionals, the best in
the field in Guyana, who together have walked away with trophies for the Best
Documentary, Best Cameraman, Best News Programme to name a few.
Catherine Hughes
is the organisation’s Managing Director and Executive Producer. She brings over
20 years of international & national experience in the Communications industry.
She has worked as a television producer and director with CNN’s Local Edition of
Headline News in Texas, USA, as a television news reporter in Jamaica and in
radio with the BBC in Liverpool, England. She established VIDEOMEGA on her
return in 1993, and the organisation is widely regarded as the most efficient
television production entity. Cathy holds a degree in Mass Communications from
the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and a post graduate diploma in
Training and Development. Catherine until recently worked as a presenter of a
nightly television newscast in Guyana. She currently is President of the Tourism
and Hospitality Association of Guyana and serves as a judge on the local and
regional PAHO Media Awards Committee based in Barbados.
Hugh Cholmondeley
is Executive Director. He is a former United Nations official having served the
organisation for 27 years in senior capacities in all regions of the world. He
spearheads development of major projects in strategic planning, public
relations, conflict resolution and is a development expert, a former radio
station Chief Executive, designer of the Caribbean News Agency and founder of
the Caribbean Broadcasting Union. As Secretary General of the CBU, Hugh designed
and implemented the first live radio broadcast of the first World Cup in which
the West Indies won. He was educated at the Universities of Syracuse, USA, Birmingham, England and the West Indies in Jamaica.
Russel Lancaster
is a Producer, Director, Copywriter and voice over talent. He has worked
extensively in the Media as a Radio Announcer and Producer at the Guyana
Broadcasting Corporation, is an award winning Actor, Singer and Songwriter whose
music has gone to number one on the Guyanese charts. Russell has tremendous
experience as a television producer in the development of unique concepts and in
the area of Events Planning. In June 2004 he was involved in the production of a
four camera shoot of Wisden’s “Celebrating 75 years of cricket in the Caribbean”
awards ceremony for transmission on television in the UK. Most recently staging
of a massive flood relief stage show which was transmitted live to London.
Currently he is planning the launch of an international reggae show for a USAID
Aids related project and the development of related merchandising materials.
Gordon Armstrong
is the organisation’s Award-winning Senior Cameraman. “Pressy” as he is known in
media circles, has tremendous experience shooting for national and international
clients in Guyana’s urban, rural, hinterland and rainforest locations. He is an
expert in the coverage of news and current affairs events including
international conferences and regional Caribbean Heads of Government
conferences.
Anthony Scotland
is the Senior Editor. He brings to the team a dynamic mix of technical,
operational and creative skills, as the editor of VIDEOMEGA’S computerised
digital non-linear editing suite. Anthony is also an excellent cameraman. He
studied at the University of Guyana, has benefited from CBU training programmes
and has worked in Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
Jennifer Poonow
is Videomega’s media placement Officer. She brings over six years experience to
this position and maintains excellent relations with representatives of the
media in Guyana. Her duties include the development of media placement
schedules, monitoring of TV programming and media placements and the
organisation of media events, such as press conferences. She works closely with
our clients and is instrumental in the organisation of media events planning.
Jonelle Alexander
is the most recent addition to the Videomega family. She is a graduate of the
University of Guyana and has special skills in the Communication research field.
She works as a Producer/Scriptwriter and loves editing. Jonelle has been
involved in the production of several television documentaries and has completed
the production of a fifteen minute documentary on CDB projects in Guyana for
airing at the recently concluded CDB Annual General Meeting in Georgetown,
Guyana.
